Ours was a summer of camping, but not the traditional camping. The only time we did that was our awesome family reunion (due to our awesome family!) the first part of July. It was a blast, only wished it could have lasted a few days longer.

The rest of the camping was, in no particular order………………….quarterback camp, weber state team basketball camp, chadron state team football camp, byu football camp, uvu volleyball camp, uw volleyball camp, mesa state team basketball camp, scout camp, young women’s camp, cub scout day camp. Yes it is a lot, and even looks worse in writing. Amongst all the camping we managed to squeeze in a lot of baseball and a fun family trip to Las Vegas.

The last month of summer was spent saying goodbye to my dad, my hero. Dad was diagnosed with cancer and passed away just a short 20 days later. We were able to spend some precious time with him, and are grateful for that, still I feel a little cheated, he was only 76, just wish I could have had him around awhile longer, but I guess no matter how old your dad is you are never ready to let him go. As you can tell, I am a fan of quotes, and the one that I couldn’t get out of my mind was Abe Lincoln’s “Everything I am, or hope to be I owe to my angel mother,” only it applies to my dad, for me, just as much. He taught me how to work, he taught me what it was to be constant, he taught me how to LIVE the gospel. I am happy for him, he was ready, but sad for me and for my kids who won’t have the chance to learn from him, I guess it’s up to me to teach them, but I know I’m not as good a teacher of those things as he was. He loved watching his grandkids play ball, almost as much as my kids loved seeing him at their games, we will miss that, as well as his sense of humor, his smile, his hugs, and his help. Love you dad, thanks for EVERYTHING!

That was a beautiful post. I agree that no matter how old they are, we are never ready to see them go. I'm sure it was a short 20 days and you cherished every one of those.
I can't believe your camps. You must have a lot of kids. Haha.
Hope to see you soon!!!
Love it and love you guys!! Come visit some time, we have room for everybody:)!
